With new regulations to the organic part Anuga points out that organic food is a strong part of food innovation. So the fair does strengthen the organic profile. The 32nd Anuga, which takes place from 5th to 9th October 2013, will once again be the world’s largest and most important meeting place for the food and beverage sectors. About 6,700 suppliers will come together with around 160,000 potential customers from the food trade and the catering sector

— on a truly global scale. Anuga’s profile will be further sharpened by the expansion and accentuation of its clear trade fair concept and new modules. As a result, Anuga will remain the most up-to-date and therefore the most important information and sourcing platform in the food business.

New opening times: On all five days of the fair, Anuga will open its doors at 10:00 a.m. instead of at 9:00 a.m. as has previously been the case. The day’s activities will end at 7:00 p.m. with the exception of the last day of the fair, when the doors will close at 6:00 p.m. The main reason for setting the opening time back one hour is to ensure that exhibitors and visitors have a more relaxed morning commute to the exhibition centre.

New: proof of organic certification for exhibitors at Anuga Organic Beginning in 2013 organic products may only be presented as part of Anuga Organic if proof can be provided that they have the appropriate certification. This measure will give buyers even more security as they check out products and is a significant step forward in terms of quality assurance.

New: starting in 2013 fair trade products will be a part of the ten trend themes at Anuga. The list of Anuga trend themes will be expanded to include another trend theme. Fair trade products, for which demand has been growing rapidly over the past ten years, can now be looked up and researched within the entire product range, thanks to the Anuga database. The Anuga trend themes, which have been used as overall topic search terms for structuring the Anuga database since 2005, provide practical assistance for buyers who wish to find cross-segment information about specific subject areas. Other trend themes include: Gourmet Products and Regional Specialties, Halal Food, Organic Products, Vegetarian Products, Health & Functional Food, Kosher Products, Finger Food, Private Labels and Ingredients.

New: expansion of Anuga FoodService. The trade show for technology, food and equipment for the food service and catering market provides a focused ordering and information platform for potential customers regarding this market. With all-new elements, Anuga FoodService will be even more precisely tailored to the needs of trade visitors from these segments. A specialized top-quality support program will be part of this expansion, including: an “Anuga FoodService Power Breakfast” to start off three days of the fair and events presented by the trade magazine FoodService Europe & Middle East (Frankfurt) in cooperation with Koelnmesse. The three themes of institutional/communal catering, food service concepts in the food trade and innovative restaurant kitchens, as well as the target groups related to these topics will be addressed in exciting motivational presentations given by top-class international speakers. Additionally, the second final of the professional cooking competition “Anuga Cook of the Year” will be integrated into Anuga FoodService. This event will take place on the Culinary Stage located in the Gastronomy Marketplace presented by the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) Berlin and German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) North Rhine-Westphalia and the “Visions of Cooking”.

Ten trade shows under one roof — Anuga’s successful trade fair concept remains the same. Since 2003 Anuga has consisted of ten trade shows that expertly and internationally represent the ten largest core segments in the food and beverage sector. This concept, which results in an easy-to-understand structure with clearly defined topics, has been the foundation of the Anuga success story. These ten trade shows are:

·      Anuga Fine Food

·      Anuga Chilled & Fresh Food

·      Anuga Meat

·      Anuga Frozen Food

·      Anuga Dairy

·      Anuga Bread & Bakery, Hot Beverages

·      Anuga Drinks

·      Anuga FoodService

·      Anuga RetailTec

·      Anuga Organic

The supporting programme: Numerous specialized events and a networking platform complement the information that is available at Anuga. The Anuga Executive Summit, which takes place the evening before Anuga opens, the Forum for System Catering, the sector get-togethers Dairy Unlimited, Meat Essential and Frozen Food, the WellFood Forum, the Wine Special (including award ceremony) and the new products platform, taste13, are all part of the supporting programme.

The exhibition centre: In 2013 Anuga will once again occupy the entire exhibition centre in Cologne covering a gross exhibition space of 284,000 m². Trade shows with related characteristics and temperature sensitive products — for example, Anuga Meat, Anuga Dairy, Anuga Frozen Food and Anuga Chilled & Fresh Food — will be located in adjacent halls. Anuga FoodService and Anuga Drinks will likewise be located in neighbouring halls.

Travel free on the bus, tram or train with a ticket to Anuga: Travel on the buses, trams or trains in Cologne and the surrounding region (the entire VRS network) is free of charge for travellers with an exhibitor pass or a visitor ticket.
