Six Danish outstanding organic products were awarded Økologisk Guld 2012, the “Organic Gold Award 2012”. Some award-winning products can be met at Organic Denmarks’s joint stand at BioFach 2013.

On the 25th November 2012, the 5th Organic Gold Award was held in central Copenhagen. Organic Denmark and the Danish newspaper Politiken co-hosted the event for the second time. 19 out of 110 enrolled products were officially nominated for an award and yet again, the judge panel had to decide which of these would win this year’s Organic Gold Award. Judging the taste, value of innovation, packaging and value-for-money, the judges awarded the following 6 winners by product category:

Goat’s buttermilk by Knuthenlund (Dairy products)

Goat’s salami by Hanegal (Meat & charcuterie)

Golden reputation
Jesper Hovmand Simonsen from Knuthenlund is delighted by his award, and for him there is no doubt that the award will have positive effects for his company. “This really means that we will gain positive reputation. Besides, we had the opportunity to meet out consumers and it has been a real pleasure to listen to their positive comments about our product” he says, and points out that many of those who were sceptic about tasting his goat’s buttermilk later came back to get a refill.
